Golden sands, incendiary music, and the tranquility of untouched wildlife under the bright sun of West Africa! Traveling to Senegal is an experience that can change your entire life. From the bustling business capital of Dakar to the mesmerizing endless deserts. From secluded wildlife sanctuaries to sunny oceanfront resorts. 14 days spent here will forever leave a mark in your heart!
Day 1. (08.02.18) Arrival in Dakar. relaxation
Day 2. (09.02.18) After lunch drive to Pink Lake.
Its unique feature is the colossal content of various salts in the water (primarily magnesium), and their concentration here is 10 times higher than in the waters of the World Ocean - about 350-380 grams per liter. Special halophyte bacteria, the only inhabitants of these waters, give the lake its characteristic pink color. Many kilometers of heaps of salt stretch along the coast, mined by local residents and then exported. Bus ride through the desert around the lake.
Day 3. (10.02.18) Transfer to Saint-Louis, city tour.
We will visit the old colonial city with its palaces and old buildings in the style of New Orleans. Saint Louis is one of the most interesting cities on the continent, the oldest city in the country and the first European settlement in West Africa. Saint-Louis was founded in 1659 on an island in a strategic position near the mouth of the Senegal River, between the mainland and the Langhe-de-Berbéry peninsula. The main city of the French colonies in the western part of Africa, Saint Louis, since the end of the 19th century, has been one of the most dynamically developing ports of the continent and an important commercial center of the region. From 1872 to 1957, Saint-Louis was the capital of Senegal and has retained traces of its former grandeur even to this day. In 2000, the historical part of the island was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Day 4. (11.02.18) Juj National Park
The third largest ornithological park in the world, Djuj Park, is interesting. As if 200 species of local birds were not enough, every year more than 3 million birds from all over Europe and Western Asia come here for wintering. Juja is home to about 70 species of mammals, 60 species of reptiles, and 100 species of fish and amphibians. In 1981, the park was listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Day 5. (12.02.18) Transfer to Lompul (sandy desert)
At sunset, the dunes of the Lompul desert, composed of bright orange sands, are intersected by stripes of black shadows and seem to be frozen waves of a fantastic ocean.
Day 6. (13.02.18) Moving to Sali.
Sali is the most popular tourist area, there are beautiful sandy beaches, hotels immersed in exotic greenery, restaurants, nightclubs and many entertainments: tennis courts, catamarans, diving, surfing, quad bikes, deep sea fishing.
Day 7. (02/14/18) beach holiday
Day 8. (15.02.18) beach holiday
Day 9. (16.02.18) Excursion to the islands of Sin-Silum.
The unique region of Sin-Silum is named after the ancient empires of the same name that once flourished here. This is one of the most beautiful places in Senegal with a huge historical heritage. The mangrove thickets, salt and fresh lagoons, tropical forests and picturesque sandy shores spread here have been included in the list of UNESCO biosphere reserves since 1981. This is the second largest nature reserve in the country and one of the most interesting parks in Africa: 72 species of animals, 370 species of birds, more than 200 species of fish and the rarest manatees, river dolphins and sea turtles
Day 10. (17.02.18) Journey to Joal Fadius
JOAL FADIOUTH is one of the most beautiful settlements in western Senegal. The entire city of Fadioth originated from a clam shell. Or, more accurately, thousands and thousands of them. This is what the island itself is made of. In the evening return to Sali.
Day 11. (18.02.18) Return to Dakar rest
Day 12. (19.02.18) Tour of Dakar, tour of the island. Woe
Island of Ile de Gory, which is 3 km. east of the capital, famous for its houses of colonial architecture, the magnificent sandy beach of Le Castell, the excellent Historical Museum in Fort Destri (northern part of the island), which can compete in richness with the exposition of the capital, the Maritime Museum, the Museum of Women and the excellent Tourist Market near the pier, almost entirely focused on serving guests from other countries. A special pride of the city is the carefully restored historical slave market, built in 1786, which is currently a unique museum of African culture and folklore, which laid the foundation for many modern peoples of both Americas. For many centuries, slaves from all over West Africa were brought here, to a large transshipment base in Fort Le Castell - Mason de Esclave ("house of the slave"). Therefore, now the history of slavery is of particular interest to the Senegalese (although the very fact that slaves were kept here is doubtful). In 1978, the island was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
