The events of recent weeks have left people around the world wondering whether to cancel, postpone or take their planned trips. For our part, we believe that those who are aware are forewarned. All decisions are individual, but let's take a look at what travelers need to know about the COVID-19 virus.
What is a coronavirus?
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory disease that spreads from person to person. About 80% people recover without special treatment. The virus, which first appeared in Wuhan, China, has spread to 53 countries. Of about 89,000 reported cases, China has more than 80,000. The elderly and people with pre-existing comorbidities such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes are most at risk for severe COVID-19.
More than 3,044 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported as of March 2, with 132 deaths outside of China, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The death rate in Wuhan is between 2% and 4%, while elsewhere it is 1%. These statistics are significantly lower than those of the other two epidemics, however, the rate of spread of COVID-19 is significantly higher, meaning more people could get sick.
For comparison, according to WHO, every year the flu infects up to a billion people in the world, and dies from 250 to 650 thousand (from 3.3% to 9.2%). In Ukraine, over the past week, 217,000 people fell ill with the flu, which is more than 2 times the number of cases of coronavirus throughout the world.
Who Should Avoid Traveling?
Elderly travelers or those with weakened immune systems should reconsider traveling during this time.
What are the personal precautions (made by myself for you in consultation with your favorite tourist doctors J):
Regardless of whether you are in Ukraine or traveling around the world, the rules remain as simple as possible, namely the rules of personal hygiene. Ventilate rooms, use cream-balms that create a protective antiviral and antibacterial barrier on the surface of the nasal mucosa, wash your hands, carry and use sanitizers, wipe mobile phones with alcohol solutions, avoid mass events, eat well, drink more water, change towels Once a week, get enough sleep J, love and enjoy life. Check all the information yourself!
To avoid embarrassment when traveling, take a look at the link of the official Iatatravelcentre source about restrictions on entry to different countries: https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/

Spring has come, followed by summer. And anyway, everything will travel!
When creating the article, materials from the World Health Organization (WHO) were used.
